Badger Group Update:

Hi all,

Well its been a chocca year so far and we're only just into March!

If you see our blog on our web-site you can catch up with most of whats been going on: http://www.wcbg.org.uk/ .

We're progressing our badger vaccination scheme and have had various meetings with Cheshire farmers, some in a group format as well as one to one situations. We also attend the Cheshire TB meetings, and there are some very heated discussions as you can probably imagine!!

Many of our members have attended the various anti-cull marches that have gone on up and down the country and its been great to meet so many badger fans. We have also had some new members through these and one has even joined our committee as a result.

Persecution is sadly still rife in the region and we've heard of some horrific incidents that the RSPCA have been involved in as well as the police. As recent as this weekend (2nd March 2014) we attended another one. We urge everyone to please keep your eyes out for suspicious vans/4x4's and men with dogs. They are not targeting the deep dark countryside but very brazen urban areas with plenty of people about. We run training sessions on persecution so please become a member to learn more and do your bit.

Aside from the rather depressing stuff we have a lot going on in our woodlands that we own, survey training sessions and we are having a change around with our committee. As part of this we are calling for more volunteers (isn't everyone?!) and would love to hear from you if you could become a sett monitor, help with our newsletter, drop collection boxes off at your local shops - the jobs list goes on!

You can always reach us via email at: info@wcbg.org.uk or via our Facebook and Twitter pages, if you want a chat drop us an email and we'll pass you a phone number.

Thanks,
W&CBG
