Hedgehog house

Post by Mooresights »

Last autumn after finding lots of hedgehog poo in my garden I put a hogitat in a suitable spot and hoped for the best. The information on the house says that it can be used by a hedgehog at any time of the year - I would like to know if I should just leave it alone or do you have to periodically clear them out like used bird boxes. I don't know if it is occupied. Joy

re Hog boxes like most things need occasional cleaning, this will remove parasites and get rid of unwanted lodgers, hedgehogs are notorious for not being able to rid themselves of pests - as you will know if you have ever picked one up, or put one in somebody elses tent, for a laugh, in Glastonbury. :D

All old bedding needs to be removed, and due to risk of infection I would recommend rubber gloves during work, then it should be in good order for Mr Tiggys return next winter - job done!
