More ID Help Please:

I photographed the below in flight yesterday (03/08/2015) in Poynton. It didn't alight once in the time before it flew out of sight, so it's the best photo that I could obtain. After much deliberation, between whether it's a Migrant or Southern Hawker, I have decided it's a male Southern Hawker. Do you think that is correct?

Male Southern Hawker ???

I agree that this is a male Aeshna cyanea. I haven't seen any Aeshna mixta yet this year and certainly not in Poynton where I live.

David,

I spotted it at the bottom of Angelsey Drive (near the small public car park) where there is a small brook flowing into Poynton Lake (SJ923847). I will be sending records of my sightings (including this one) to you at the end of the season.

Regards

Glenn
