2011 Reptiles:

Hi Everyone,

Despite the slightly cool temperatures today (Wed 02/03/2011) I managed to see a single Common Lizard (Zootoca vivipara) at Little Budworth Common today. Last week Jeff Clarke and Rob Smith saw an Adder (Vipera berus) at a traditional site in Cheshire.

2011 Reptiles:

Grass Snakes (Natrix natrix) are now out and about in Cheshire and Common/Viviparous Lizards (Zootoca vivipara) can be found on various Cheshire heathlands.

I counted at least 16 Grass Snakes (Natrix natrix) at one site this afternoon in Cheshire -- probably one of the largest counts on a single day from a single site. Encouragingly, many of these were young from last year, although one female was at least 3 feet long.

Hello,

I have just embarked upon a Common Lizard (Zootoca vivipara) survey on Grange Hill, West Kirby. I have so far had 60 sightings over the last 3 days. Adult males, females and plenty of juveniles. Plenty of photo's and will be doing some invert sampling tomorrow at the study sites. Looking to develop a 'Conservation Biology' for this species as part of a wider bio-diversity audit for the area.

Anybody else have experiences of this sort of monitoring?

Keith

Keith,

Many thanks.
