Painted Ladies on Hope Mountain?

Painted Ladies on Hope Mountain?

I know the subject label suggests something else, but this is a legitimate posting :D

Whilst enjoying an evening constitutional on Hope Mountain last night (Wednesday 6th April 2011) I saw a couple of Painted Ladies (Vanessa cardui) basking in the sun.

Can I ask has anyone else seen any? I stood and watched one individual for quite some time as I didn't expect to see any around for a while yet.

I was proper chuffed!

Good sighting Eric,

Painted Ladies are occurring in small numbers in the south of the UK, and they do "Mountain Hop", so the ones you saw had obviously read the right books ;)
