Dotted Border Behaviour:
Trapping at my Denbighshire site near Maeshafn on Friday night I caught this Dotted Border. It wasn't a pristine example, but with a bit of time to kill, I tried to photograph it anyway. It was very reluctant to settle on proffered bits of bark and branch and eventually I reeased it onto a Beech trunk. At this point it marched resolutely downwards and took up a position just above the leaf-litter.
I wonder if anyone else has any similar experience of this species, and whether this is a characteristic resting position.
Cheers,
Clive
