Yet Another Unidentified Larva

Post by melbellingham »

Yet Another Unidentified Larva:

This one was found on the path next to my trap on the night of 31/03/2017, but I have been unable to put a name to it.

Approximate size 30mm. The leaves were picked at random for photographic purposes only, and are probably not indicative of the larval foodplant.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Mel,

With the broken white stripe down it's back it could be Angle Shades.

Greg

Hi Mel,

I'd agree with Greg with it being Angle Shades ..... stumbled over an identical looking photo having typed "November Moth Caterpillar' into Google !

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments.

I had considered Angle Shades, but all of the images I had looked at show a broad pale spiracular line and the spiracles also seem paler than on my larva. Whether that makes a difference, I'm not sure.

Cheers,
Mel.
