Southern Wainscot (Mythimna straminea)

Southern Wainscot (Mythimna straminea):

Hello All,

Last night the trap was overflowing with practically nothing. Just 17 species, and not many more moths, but while photographing two FFY, it turns out that one is a FFG.

So my poor night wasn't so bad after all.

I had only ever seen Southern Wainscot Mythimna straminea once before, when SteveHH caught one while we were recording at RSPB Burton Mere Reserve.

Nice moth Mel,

I'll have to be more careful when checking my trap. I am getting quite a few Smoky Wainscots at the moment. I tend to just glance at them when recording and my eyesight isn't that great any more. It would be so easy to overlook a rarity like yours.
