Best Night Of The Year To Date

Best Night Of The Year To Date:

Hi Folks,

Tuesdays' muggy conditions produced 189 moths of 59 species, both counts being significantly better than anything prior this year.

In terms of NFY, eight, including a personal favourite, Ypsolopha scabrella and the in-hand identifiable Nepticulid Ectoedemia decentella, just our second garden record.

Cheers,
Steve

It looked like being a good night, so I ran two traps in the garden and caught at least 124 species from 700+ moths.

NFY were Phyllonorycter quercifoliella; Brachmia blandella; Psoricoptera gibbosella; Mompha conturbatella; Zeiraphera ratzeburgiana; Purple Bar; Buff Footman; Svensson's Copper Underwing; Rustic; Lesser Yellow Underwing & Least Yellow Underwing

Regards,
Steve
