Dusky Sallow

Dusky Sallow:

Morning All,

A busy trap at Whixall last night. An unusual moth for the area was a Dusky Sallow (Eremobia ochroleuca).

The trap was set in the Old Manor House grounds which has a firm base of limestone hardcore. The surrounding area is mainly acidic peat. Whether it is a small localised population or just a wanderer is unknown, a few more would have to be caught on site for it to be a colony.

A pleasant surprise anyway.

P.S. Apparently one was caught back in 1994.
