3 More Lifers For Me !

Morning All,

A visit to an old Slate quarry Nr Machynlleth, Wales produced 3 new species for me. 6 Barred Carpets, 1 Dark Marbled Carpet and a nice fresh Tissue. There were also plenty of Black Arches and Rosy Footmen.

A well worth journey.

Greg

Worth it indeed - all bar Rosy Footman would be lifers for me, although I might have confused Common and Dark Marbled Carpet sometimes.

Hi Clive,

Yes I'm the same. I've caught many Common Marbled thinking they could be Dark Marbled. I wouldn't have known this one was if someone hadn't pointed out the difference in the markings on the underside of the wings. I always assumed that the name applied to the shade of the markings. Obviously not, as this is one of the lightest marked Marbled Carpets I've seen and yet it's a Dark Marbled Carpet. Very Confusing.

Regards,
Greg

Hi Guys,

Beautifully marked Dark Marbled Carpet !

OK - so here's my aide memoir ...... D as in Dark and Dagger point shaped postmedian line, C as in Common and more Curvy postmedian line ......

Works for me - excepting that DMC is now super rare here in Elton ...... :(

Cheers,
Steve
