Dane-in-Shaw:
Added another three species to the SJ86 list yesterday (15/08/2017) at Dane-in-Shaw. A couple of Mirificarma mulinella and Ypsolopha ustella, all beaten from Gorse and a vacated Phyllonorycter klemannella mine on Alder. Phyllonorycter klemannella is normally single brooded, mining Sept/Oct, so maybe the warm spring weather enabled it to produce an early brood this year. Also, had an early mine of Tischeria ekebladella, which again doesn’t normally start mining until September.
Here's a photo showing the white moulting cocoon of Bucculatrix cidarella, on Alder, with the gallery mine to the right. The brown blotch to the left, is an old mine of Phyllonorycter rajella.
Also found this fold on an Alder which may have been made by Caloptilia falconipennella. Hope to rear it through to confirm.
Regards,
Steve
