Frosted Orange:
Hi,
Three consecutive nights without putting the trap out, due to the rain and strong winds, and all I could think about were the ‘one record a year’ moths that I might just be missing.
Last night (13/09/2017) the wind eased, and although I knew there would be heavy showers, out went the trap.
Only 7 species recorded and surprisingly 4 of those were micro’s, consisting of Tachystola acroxantha 2, Eudonia angustea 1, Light Brown Apple Moth 1 and 1 Common Plume.
The highlight of the night was amongst the macro’s. Large Yellow Underwing 6, Square-spot Rustic 2, and Frosted Orange Gortyna flavago. Only my 8th garden record and my first since 2011.
Mel.

Re: Frosted Orange
Frosted Orange is my favourite autumn moth. Like you I don't get them every year though have had 38 since 1988. I didn't catch any in 2016 but had one fresh one this year on 9th September and another rather worn one this morning.
