Afternoon All,

I found this Hornet mimic Hoverfly Volucella zonaria on my Buddleia bush this afternoon.
Quite an impressive insect, not quite as large as a Hornet, but not far off.

Not only does it look reasonably like a Hornet, but the sound of its wings in flight is a passable imitation of the deep buzz/drone of a Hornet too.
