Stigmella svenssoni - New to Cheshire:
The Nepticulidae are most easily recorded by looking for the larval mines, although some can be problematic and those on Oak, especially the Stigmella, are one such group. The adults are similar and not often caught in light traps. When they are, they are often missed, due to their small size, so there are only a few confirmed records of this group on the database. We now have another species to consider in this group, with the capture of a male Stigmella svenssoni by Mike Dale in his Alsager garden on 16th June 2017.
