Faddiley:
Spent Sunday 24/09/2017 leaf mining around the lanes of Faddiley with Huw John & Mel Bellingham. Amongst the 68 species of moth found were these two:
Pammene fasciana larva emerged overnight from an acorn.
Look for frass at the side of a hole in the acorn and wait for the larva to emerge, as there are other species which feed inside acorns.
Coleophora anatipennella larval case on the underside of a Blackthorn leaf.
Look for numerous small white spots on the upper surface of the leaf where the larva has already fed.
Regards,
Steve
