Sutton Lane Ends – 03/10/2017:
Mines of Apple Pygmy Stigmella malella. A local species in Cheshire, restricted to hedgerows containing plentiful Crab Apple.
Ancylis badiana larva, ex spinning in Vetch.
Ancylis badiana spins the leaves of Clovers and Vetches into a pod and feeds inside. The larva often overwinters fully fed and pupates inside the pod so can be found throughout the Winter.
Presumably this is the work of Choreutis pariana and how it came to be named Apple Leaf Skeletonizer.
Regards,
Steve
