Caloptilia & Agonopteryx - Help Requested Please:
Caught in Upton-by-Chester a Caloptilia. I think it fits the Autumn generation of Caloptilia semifascia. This woud be new for me. Also, an Agonopterix thoug I am uncertain as to its identification.

Hi Roger,
Your Caloptilia is most likely stigmatella.
Confirmation of Caloptilia semifascia in Cheshire is still required. The only record of an adult was recorded at Prestbury in 1998 and requires confirmation. A number of larval cones have been found over the years on Field Maple which have been attributed to this species, although as Caloptilia rufipennella also occasionally feeds on Field Maple, these records should probably be removed from the database.
Regards,
Steve

Thanks Steve. I had a well marked Caloptilia stigmatella this morning.
