Bactra lancealana ?

Post by PaulHopkins »

Bactra lancealana ?

This Bactra sp. was flying by day at Dibbinsdale LNR yesterday (20/05/2018), a new one for me. (ID'd to genus by Ben Sale in a Facebook group, my best guess was miles off !).

The most likely candidate looks overwhelmingly to be B.lancealana - am I OK to record it as that, or should it go down as Unknown Micro with a note ?

Cheers,
Paul

Looks OK for Bactra lancealana Paul. This species is widespread and common in Cheshire amongst rushes, whereas the other species are far more local.

Regards,
Steve
