Help Please

Help Please:

I've got all available features of this, but none of Manley, Waring or Skinner is leading me to a firm conclusion. It must be obvious so embarrassment awaits ! Thanks in advance.

One of the forms of Ingrailed Clay. Quite a variable moth.

Thanks - I assumed it would be a common species and Ingrailed Clay had featured in my thinking, but I don't think I'd seen the very dark hind wing before. Does that vary between the different forms as well as the considerable range of forewing patterns and colourways ?

Yes Clive.

There are 15 specimens illustrated in Skinner and the hindwing colour varies from pale to dark. Your specimen is closest to plate 5.
