Macro For ID, Plus a Caterpillar

Post by Tim_Ward »

Macro For ID, Plus a Caterpillar:

I'm struggling to identify this macro and the nearest match I can find is the Grass Rivulet but I have neither chalk grassland nor coastal dunes in my back garden so I'm not convinced. What does the panel think ?

Also, can anybody identify this caterpillar which I found in the woods at Tegg's Nose ?
I thought it might be a Satellite moth but, again, I'm not sure.

Tim

Hi Tim,

Struggling to come up with a name other than Grass Rivulet ...... no idea about the squiggly thing though. :-)

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Tim,

Grass Rivulet feeds on Yellow Rattle, so you must have some growing locally. I've had 17 Grass Rivulets in the garden this year and I'm fairly sure they are breeding on the Yellow Rattle in my garden meadow.

Satellite looks OK.

Regards,
Steve
