No need for a trap...

Post by SteveH »

Morning folks,

a bit late going to bed last night, courtesy of attending a hoverfly presentation at Chester Zoo (ended nicely by watching Purple Hairstreaks from the car park!) and then having the great pleasure of watching England dismantle Australia again in aT20 cricket international!

With the back door and every possible window open to get the house cooler, we had noticed the odd moth buzzing around the house whilst watching the TV and on doing the rounds of window closing just before midnight, I noticed just our second ever Pterophorus pentadactyla on the inside of the back door! The only previous record was from 2002. Whilst watching this, Magpie Moth, Brimstone, Riband Wave, Small Blood-vein, Amblyptilia acanthadactyla and Hedya nubiferana all put in appearances! I somehow resisted the temptation of putting the trap on - seems tonight will be similar conditions.

Cheers,
Steve
