Great Night !

Great Night !

Morning All,

In terms of interesting species last night was truly wonderful. :-) The numbers game was 115 moths of 42 species, so less than the previous session as anticipated given the cooler temperatures.

Among those in the trap was Catoptria margaritella, new for the garden, ably supported by such NFYs as: Pale Prominent, Poplar Hawk, Rosy Rustic, Cloaked Minor, Antler Moth and Euzophera pinguis. The last two are distinct rarities for us, each turning up less than every other year. The Antler was the first since 2013 and E.pinguis the first since 2011. I was beginning to think that Poplar Hawk wasn't going to turn up this year at all, so was especially happy to see it.

Cheers,
Steve
