Predator deception

Morning All

A disappointing trap last night in the garden, except a nice fresh
Oak Nycteoline (which don't turn up every year).
I've only just noticed the markings on the thorax mimicking a small animal,
probably to deceive a would be predator,
Also NFY Square Spot Rustic and Flounced Rustic (both quite worn).
