Leaf mines for ID

Post by bobhelencoan »

Have found some leaf activity which we think is due to moths. Would like some confirmation please.
The mine on silver birch is similar to a previous post but this is a clearer view of the gallery.
We found several patches with what seemed like an empty frass case on oak . We then found one occupied on hawthorn. The larva seems to be in a frass covered tube.
The small leaf fold at the tip of field maple leaf shows the empty pupa case. Is this from Phyllonorycter acerifoliella?
Steve Hinds post shows a cocoonette on hawthorn. Is this the same kind of thing on Field maple?

Hi Bob & Helen

Stigmella sakhalinella for the birch mine but can't help you with any of the others.

Thanks Steve. Searching th web we think the mine on the oak is the early stage of Gypsonoma dealbana, images on leafmines website. Bob & Helen
