Another nght to not shout out about...

Post by SteveH »

Hi folks,

just 65 moths of 19 species last night but two NFY in the shape of Swallow Prominent and Orange Swift so mustn't grumble. Year total now 301 for the garden, which is just one shy of last years tally.

Also, time I thought to make mention of blunderwings - three last night took the seasons' total to just 33 but thats a big number when considering I've only had TWO Lesser Yellow Underwings thus far, no Least Yellows and no Broad-bordered either...

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve

All the Yellow Underwing species are well down in number this year, at all the sites I visit.
Maybe in the next couple of months they will recover. Numbers of Dun-bar, Shuttle-shaped Dart,
Setaceous Hebrew Character and Common Carpet have increased. Generally though,
most species are way down. Although I've had 12 new species for the garden, there
is double that number of regular species missing this year.
Not looking good so far.

p.s I think you meant Orange not Gold Swift that you caught last night (unless it's a very late specimen).

Regards
Greg
