Hi Julia

Your moth is a Flounced Rustic. They vary considerably in colour and some of the markings.
The overall shape, which is quite chunky and an August flight season helps with ID.

Thanks - I have had several of these but they were a lot darker...

Hi Julia

As mentioned, there is a vast variation in background colour for this species. I've attached a couple of photos
as examples. The flight season, overall shape and the majority of the markings should be sufficient,
but there are bound to be exceptions for positive ID.

Hi folks,

have to say that my gut reaction on seeing the photo was that I'd not seen Grey Chi for such a long time it was good to finally catch up again...
