Eyed Hawk-moth

Post by pfa47 »

I've never seen a second generation Eyed Hawk-moth Smerinthus ocellata before, so to find one in the trap this morning here in Elworth was a nice surprise.

Eyed Hawkmoth is a moth I expect in the garden every year. This year has been the exception so hearing this news leads me to hope for a late record .Incidently my latest for the garden is June 30th in 2009,so I presume this is a second generation.
