Ypsolopha alpella / sylvella?

Post by andrewjcharlton »

Had this one this morning.
It seems to have markings somewhere between Y alpella and sylvella (which would be new for me). I'm not sure how much variation in marking there is with these two.
I see the flight seasons also overlap...
Or is it something else?

Any thoughts?

Andrew

Not sure what that is Andrew as Ypsolopha alpella/sylvella normally rest with their antennae directed forwards and straight palps, whereas this appears to have its palps curved back over its head like a Gelechiidae.
Unless anyone else can put a name to it, I suggest retaining it and I'll have a look at it over the winter.
Regards
Steve
