Hi folks,
had a decent leaf-mining day on 5th November on my local patch, the best of which I found whilst looking for 'green islanded' leaves on my way home. Seems you can stare at the ground and still find good stuff! I found two leaves, one with an Ectoedemia subimaculella mine and the other a tenanted mine of Ectoedemia argyropeza on Aspen.
Cheers,
Steve
Ectoedemia argyropeza
Re: Ectoedemia argyropeza
Looking for 'green islands' amongst fallen leaves is often productive. Aspen is rather a scarce tree in the county, so a good find. I was also out leaf mining yesterday, at Nether Alderley and my highlight was Stigmella continuella, three mines on a single birch leaf at the edge of Soss Moss. This is a very local species in Cheshire and was new to SJ87. There are less than 20 sites where it has been found. The leaf was towards the base of a seedling, which is typical for this species.
