A very early Spring Usher was by the garden trap this morning

Our previous earliest records for Cheshire are 31/12/2007 & 31/12/2012.

Not as many moths as the previous night but still a good selection:

The flight times are all over the place this year. There are still quite a few Summer moths being caught down south.
It will be interesting to see how our moths and butterflies fair next year after this years hot dry summer.
Apparently in 1976 and 77 there was a considerable drop in numbers after the 1975 drought.
