A surprise guest to the first trapping session of the year

Post by SteveH »

Morning all,

whilst I've been reading that many of you have been trapping for....well, weeks really, it's long been understood that there's practically zero point in trapping here in Elton before this time of year so last night was the first session - and we were pleased not to get a "zero" result!

Five species - all NFY of course, Common and Small Quakers, Clouded Drab, a nice, unexpected Angle Shades and, on the door as I was walking back inside, the surprise - an Acleris literana; new for the garden! The latter more than made up for having to bale water from the trap and continues last years incredible run of 15 new garden species; continuing in similar vein may well see us crack the 700-barrier this year!

Cheers,
Steve
