Early Bright-line Brown-eye???

Post by melbellingham »

My mothing has been on hold for the last week or so, and as I am unable to do any over the weekend, I was anxious to do a night for the Garden Moth Scheme.

Last night (28/3/2019) was my only option and despite the minimum temperature (2.3C) I did get a few moths.

Common Quaker 1, Small Quaker 2, Clouded Drab 1, Hebrew Character 2, Double-striped Pug 1, Brindled Pug 2 plus Bright-line Brown-Eye Lacanobia olacea, Red-green Carpet Chloroclysta siterata and Light Brown Apple Moth Epiphyas postvittana all NFY.

The Bright-line Brown-eye is apparently early, and definitely almost a month earlier than I have recorded it in the past.

On the theme of early moths, there was this Yellow-barred Brindle outside the trap last night. Rather browner, than the usual yellow/green types I normally catch.
