Filling in the empty hectads

Post by bankst »

Reading the Steves' excellent 2018 Moth Report, I noticed on the 'Species per Hectad' map the dearth of species in SJ77 - only three, in a fairly densely populated area in the middle of the county, bordered on all sides by hectads reporting hundreds of species - clearly there's a need for an enthusiastic moth-trapper to take up residence in the Knutsford area, (mind you, house prices, HS2 etc.)
I live in the next-door hectad, SJ67, but on the 3rd April I struck a blow for my species-impoverished neighbour with this sighting of an Early Tooth-Striped ( ? I think - confirmation appreciated) on the wall of Plumley Village Hall, Grid Ref. SJ718755.
Let's get SJ77 to at least four species in 2019!
Tom.

Yes Tom, Early Tooth-Striped.
I am not aware of anyone trapping in SJ77 this year, although a visit to Rudheath Woods last Saturday afternoon produced eight species, so already an improvement on 2018.

Steve
