RedChestnut?

Post by bobhelencoan »

Back from 4 weeks in Spain where we attracted some nice moths to our apartment balcony we put the trap out last night. 25moths 11 species but one we think is a red chestnut which is new one for us. Also 3 nice male muslin moths and a common pug. Bob & Helen

Hi Bob & Helen

A little worn, but looks like a Red Chestnut to me.

Hi Bob and Helen,

I agree, Red Chestnut. We also caught one in the same state of dilapidation on the same night as you. But they're very handsome beasts when newly emerged in all their finery. I've attached a photo of the earliest one we trapped this season, on 22/03/19.

Cheers, Julian
