This looks to me like Spotted Shoot Moth, which would be a new moth for me, but I note this is relatively rarely seen in East Cheshire. Can anyone confirm or correct this for me?

I also had one here last night and Paul Hillyer had another at Runcorn but yes, unless there are pines near your trap like where Mike Dale traps, then it is still a relatively rarely beast in our gardens.
