At Danes Moss today I came across oak leaves spun together and lots of larval damage on oak saplings; I've provisionally identified this as Acrobasis consociella on the basis of photographs but would welcome knowing if it could be anything else.
Also, on a more mature Oak, I came across the attached leaf fold; can anybody suggest what might have created this?
As always, your help is much appreciated.....
Tim

Hi Tim
The spinning does look right Acrobasis consociella. Did you check the larvae ?

Hi Steve,
I didn't check the larva I'm afraid. Is it safe to make the id based on the spinning alone?

Re: Larval activity on Oak
Hi Tim
I found the larvae at Danes Moss in 2017, so yes, it should be OK to record this as Larval feeding signs.

Re: Larval activity on Oak
Thanks Steve. In fact I returned to the same spot today and investigated the larva (photo attached) which does appear to confirm that this was Acrobasis consociella.
