Day-flying Micros at Tegg's Nose

Post by Tim_Ward »

I capturedand photographed 4 micros at Tegg's Nose yesterday. I've provisionally id'd them but they were all a bit worn and new to me, so I'd welcome any confirmation or correction.
First up was an unfamiliar (to me) tortrix which I think might be Argyrotaenia ljungiana.
Second was what I think is Clepsis senecionana.
Third was possibly Crambus lathionellus, though the markings are rather obscure.
Fourthly was what I think is an Epiblema species; I've attached 3 photos of this but the two last of these are after I managed to damage it with the lid of the pot.
I've kept all these specimens except the first in case dissection is worthwhile.
Thanks as always,
Tim

Hi Tim
Clepsis senecionana looks like a Gelechid. Was it off heather ? If so then Neofaculta ericetella.
Argyrotaenia ljungiana is Syndemis musculana
agree Crambus lathionellus
Epiblema sp. Was it amongst Coltsfoot ? If so then Epiblema sticticana

Steve

Hi Steve,
Thanks for sorting me out again. Yes, the Epiblema was amongst coltsfoot and, yes, the Gelechid was on heather. How I managed to overlook Syndemis musculana in the field-guide I'll never know!
Thanks again,
Tim
