A Spot of Gardening....

Post by melbellingham »

With disappointing traps recently, and NFY moths very thin on the ground, I was pleased to record 2 species while gardening this morning (not my favourite hobby).

Yellow shell Camptogramma bilineata, disturbed while dead heading, was shortly followed by Hummingbird Hawk-moth Macroglossum stellatarum, which I did not notice until I was too close to my patch of Red Valerian, and it unfortunately flew off.

from what I'm hearing Mel you probably saw more 'in the wild' than would have come into the trap !
