Only the Wings

Post by JulianB »

Hi all,

An unfortunate casualty outside the trap this morning - just the wings left. But we can't make the ID - the speckling and colour are suggestive of Peppered Moth (we had two live today), but the overall pattern doesn't seem to match. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Julian

Yes Julian,

Looks like the underwings of the Peppered. A nice snack for a hungry bird.

Yes - you're quite right - it's the hindwings! There was no trace of the forewings.

We also had a NFG Ghost Moth among the living this morning.

Thanks, Julian
