Pyrausta despicata and Brown-line Bright-eye Mythimna conigera were new to the garden and the 10km square SJ98 last night. Both are likely to have originated in the Derbyshire Dales and brought across on the easterly wind. Also new to the garden and SJ98 during this recent hot spell were Plain Pug Eupithecia simpliciata on 25th and Monochroa tenebrella on 23rd & 25th. Grapholita compositella was also new to the garden on 22nd.

Also during this period were the second garden records of Roeslerstammia erxlebella on 22nd, Yellow-tail on 24th, 2 Orthotelia sparganella and Straw Underwing Thalpophila matura on 25th and Cydia fagiglandana on 26th, with third records of Gypsonoma oppressana on 22nd and Agriphila inquinatella on 25th.
