White-point or Clay

Post by wirralbirder »

White-point garden Aug 04th 2019 _6357ed .jpg
Hi All
With the recent record of Sitichroa palealis fresh in my mind I was hoping for something special again last night. After sorting out a trap load of LYUs and Common Rustic a rich brownish-pink Clay showed itself. This specimen appeared shorter and more colourful than those I usually see in the garden.Wing shape and size looked right, also appeared to have a smoky grey hind wing. Would welcome any suggestions .
Also had a beautiful Red Underwing in the trap which alone would have made my day. Also Rush Veneer NFY
Cheers Harry

Hi Harry
Winds are more westerly now cutting off the flow of migrants from the continent, so this is probably a Clay
