Vapourer Larva

Post by Tim_Ward »

I encountered an astonishingly beautiful caterpillar at Tegg's Nose today. Looking through my books when I got back I was amazed that this large caterpillar, around 2 inches long, was the larva of the little Vapourer moth. I attach a rather poor photo taken with my phone...................

Agreed Tim - they are jaw-droppers.

Buddleia is a good place to look for them - we have had them several times in the past - certainly more often than trapped adults.

Cheers,
Steve
