Caught this female Eana penziana in the garden trap on 4th August 2019, which appears to be the most southerly English record.
There are two forms, bellana, a rare inland upland form and colquhounana, which is widespread around our northern coasts
It’s interesting to speculate where she originated. The nearest site is Grassington, Yorkshire, or the North Wales coast. The winds were from the west overnight on the 4th August so the latter is most likely, although the nearest site with recent records is Angelsey. There are old records at nearer sites; Talacre (1951) and Great Orme (1969), unless there is an unknown population somewhere local awaiting discovery.
