Mainly poor...mainly rain...

Post by SteveH »

Hi folks,

When it takes me longer to dry out the trap than to decant and identify the moths then you know its not been the stuff of legend; so it was this morning, apres yet another downpour.

Just 75 moths of 27 species, with Epinotia tenerana, Agriphila geniculea, Udea ferrugalis and Straw Dot being new for the year.

To put it into perspective, I recorded 26 species wandering around Gowy Meadows yesterday along with a few others, in the most unfavourable of conditions. Other than leaf-mines we recorded (amongst others): Argyresthia bonnetella, Mother of Pearl, Blood Vein, Shaded Broad-bar and Straw Dot.

Cheers,
Steve
