Puzzling micro

Post by bobhelencoan »

Found a larva on a beech leaf 27th June which formed a light brown pupa in a slight spinning. Adult hatched 9th August but sadly did not seem to develop properly and died soon after. It has a pale grey underwing. Have been searching to try and find out what it is. Closest ideas are Acleris sparsana or Cydia Fagiglandana but the larva does not look quite right.
Can anyone help identify the moth. Have retained specimen. Thanks Bob & Helen

Hi Bob & Helen
The adult looks OK for Acleris sparsana, although the larva does appear rather pale.
