Great night for the time of year

Post by SteveH »

Morning folks,

given the clear night and that it went quite cold hereabouts too I was very pleasantly surprised at having to take quite some time with the trap this morning.

188 moths of 40 species was the best return since 4th August and included two NFY (Yellow-barred Brindle and Argyresthia bonnetella). Other nicities were four Gold Spots, Orange Swift, Lime-speck Pug, Angle Shades, Six-striped Rustic and Copper Underwing.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I am amazed at the differences in overnight temperature we experience in our gardens, as it was 16 deg C min. here last night, (and before anyone asks, yes I have checked my thermometer, against 2 others, and both recorded less than a 1 degree difference).

123 moths of 29 species here, with Six-striped Rustic and Bryotropha domestica both NFY.

Gold Spot, one of my favourite species has not appeared this year though.

Mel.
