Oblique carpet a new moth for us plus a couple of micros

Post by bobhelencoan »

37 species last night. Yet another new moth for our garden Oblique carpet. Two micros that might not be possible to ID but one looks very similar to Buuculatrix maritima posted yesterday.
Any help appreciated. Bob & Helen

Further study. Is micro 2 Dichroampha species? possibly acuminatana which we have had before. Bob & Helen

Hi Bob & Helen

Oblique Carpet is a good find, as it's not recorded in the county every year.

Agree Dicrorampha and probably accuminatana but could your Bucculatrix be a worn Phyllonorycter ?

Thanks Steve. The little micro just doesn't look like the phyllonorycter micros we get. We have got suitable trees nearby and have had Bucculatrix mines before. Bob & Helen

It has the markings of Bucculatrix maritima and the eyecaps, so I'm sure you are right. It doesn't appear to be long enough, although that could be from the angle your photos were taken.
