Another Reasonable Night.

Post by melbellingham »

44 moths of 19 species last night (05/10/2019 – 12.5C min) with Green-brindled Crescent and Dusky-lemon Sallow both NFY.

Other records included Lesser YU 5, Large YU, Common Marbled Carpet 3, Red-green Carpet 5, Garden Carpet, Angle Shades, Black Rustic 5, Red-line Quaker, Brindled Green, Shuttle-shaped Dart, Blair’s Shoulder-knot 4, Lunar Underwing, Eudonia angustea 3, Tachystola acroxantha 6, Garden Rose Tortrix 2, Light Brown Apple Moth and what looks to be an Yponomeuta sp., but if I am right it would appear (from my literature), to be very late in the season.

As usual comments or corrections appreciated.

The good run continued last night (06/10/2019 – 10.7C min) with reduced numbers, but 29 moths of 18 species were recorded.

Nothing NFY, but I did get my 3rd Orange Sallow and 2nd Dark Sword-grass of the year.

Also recorded were Silver Y, Shuttle-shaped Dart, Large YU 2, Black Rustic 3, Common Marbled Carpet 3, Light Emerald, Brimstone, Yellow-line Quaker, Garden Carpet, Red-green Carpet, Angle Shades, Tachystola acroxantha 5, Light Brown Apple Moth Epiphyas postvittana 3, Eudonia angustea, Apple Leaf Miner Lyonetia clerkella and Beautiful Plume Amblyptilia acanthadactyla found on the ivy earlier in the evening.

Hi Mel,

Looks like I've been missing some decent mothing nights. I've been away for a few days and not trapped
since 27th Sept.
I would class a night when catching a Dusky-lemon Sallow as FANTASTIC.
Trap definitely out tonight.
