It's not been a memorable mothing year for Romiley, but a hummingbird hawk-moth in my garden this afternoon has at least given me something to hang on to during the Winter. First for several years, it was nearly a fatal visit as the resident garden robin almost snatched it from where it hovered. Excellent stuff.

I'd always assumed they were done and dusted well before October - but no, it seems they've turned up in Cheshire even into November. But I think I've lost more moths to spiders than robins.
